"In a nutshell, in this era of corporate anarchy, corporations do not have to abide by any rules—none at all. Legal, moral, ethical, even financial rules are irrelevant. They have all been rescinded in the pursuit of profit—literally nothing else matters." - Gonzalo Lira

I am not going to go off on our crony capitalist system that is breaking down before our very eyes. Social and moral responsibility of the corporation has turned into reprehensibility. And by this, I speak of such looming examples as the banking and energy industries. Our existing corporate structure is on the brink of systematic collapse and the majority of Americans can do nothing more than blame either of the two political parties - in effect the same party - and continue to be spoon fed their news by the corporate elitists.

It would be more fathomable if the average American was benefiting from this greed, but unfortunately most are not. Our wealth, savings and future prospects are basically dwindling to nil while the wealth of this nation becomes more and more concentrated in the hands of fewer and fewer, at unprecedented historical levels. How much longer is this model sustainable?

On a brighter note, Day Two of a raw vegetable body cleanse. Maybe I'm in a pissy mood because I woke to my house mate's Rocket Donuts and it will be another week of carrots, lettuce and apples. This is the third cleanse I've done, and I was lucky enough last night to volunteer at the food bank with a girl that works at a new raw food restaurant in town: Nama. Maybe a raw food diet won't be so bad.

It is very hard not to be depressed about all of this. I am stunned there is no tax on the offshoring of labor America's businesses are practicing, not only snubbing their noses at American labor but exploiting Third World people in search of the cheapest labor obtainable. We, the people, must get off our couches made in China which we bought from WalMart (cough-dismal and practically nonexistant employee benefits-cough) and start protesting and boycotting. That BP has a spare $20 billion to use as punishment money speaks volumes. I don't drive, so I can't boycott BP gas stations, which will really only hurt the small owner/operator way before it hurts BP. Maybe there is something to this "2012" Mayan prediction of world destruction, except it will be an implosion from within instead of Mother Nature's wrath. Just think, in a mere century of technological "advancement", we have systemically started to destroy our own environment. How dumb it that?

What do we really need to live? A roof over, some food in the belly, clothing, work and entertainment. Less is more, people. We have all become greedy, to scale, and are all part of the problem. The finger should be pointed to oneself before anyone else and ask ourselves: What am I doing to perpetuate this condition? Start googling whatever goods you need to find the ones made in the USA and only buy those, even if a bit more expensive. Boycott retailers whose goods are only bought overseas and write them and tell them you are not going to purchase from them anymore and will tell your friends and family not to, either. Got to hit them where they will understand: In the pocketbook.
